I couldn’t resist turning my snickers smoothie flavours into an overnight oats recipe.
I used organic products and 95% dark chocolate for an antioxidant hit. The peanut butter also boosts the protein.
Oats are nutritionally rich. It has more protein than most grains and also contains numerous vitamins and minerals. It contains not only antioxidants but also a soluble fiber called beta-glucan, which aids several systems of the body
Here is a simple yet tasty recipe.
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup preferred milk
- 2 tblsp smooth peanut butter, melted
- Dark chocolate nut butter
- 2 squares 95% dark chocolate
- 1 to 2 tblsp peanuts, nuts or slithered almonds.
- Opt: 1/2-1 tsp organic stevia sweetener powder or 1 tsp maple syrup
Place the oats in a bowl with milk and sweetener if using. Mix through.
Spoon half the mixture into a glass.
Melt peanut butter and spoon half to cover the oats in the glass.
Melt nut butter if needed and carefully spoon that on top of the peanut butter.
Repeat that process for the top layer.
Melt dark chocolate and spoon across the top.
Sprinkle over almonds or nuts.
Refrigerate and set over night.
