I just love making snack and protein balls. They are quick, easy, tasty and nutritious! No cooking required. The kids love them too, so a perfect way to add healthy snacks to their school lunch boxes.
This recipe includes Protein and collagen powder. Research on collagen has shown there is no risk to children, especially in low doses such as this. Collagen is already in many foods and is a natural protein already within our bodies. In fact we produce many forms. Not only is there benefits to adults but there are also many benefits for children. One being better sleep, now who wouldn’t love that! Check out Dr. Cate, MD on CB supplements for more information.
This is one recipe my 5 year old loves helping to make…..and eating too! We ate 2 as we went haha but the recipe makes a total of 18 balls.
Ingredients
- 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
- 2 heaped tblsp caramel collagen creamer (Dose & Co, available at Coles or online)
- 1/2 cup almond meal
- 1/2 cup LSA
- 1/2 cup preferred milk
- 1/4 cup saltanas
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
- 2 tblsp sesame seeds
- Coconut to roll balls in

Method
Add dry ingredients to a bowl and mix together.
Add peanut butter and mix through.
Then add the milk.
Mix thoroughly.
With clean hands, roll balls into roughly 3cm round balls to make 18.
Roll in coconut.
Store in the fridge.
These store for a couple weeks before drying out, however first week is the best.
(If you omit collagen, add 1 tblsp LSA or until mixture is like a dough).
Enjoy! You may have to hide from the children if your hoping to get some!
